You are absolutely right when you say it isn't the most efficient way to deal with the problem...I'm kind of stuck with it for now, though, my program runs as a script in a different software package called Cumulus (by Canto). In the program, I use the softwares' automation object and am constrained by its own methods (one of which copies a thumbnail to the clipboard as a bitmap).
