>>> MTS packages have a setting on them to determine how long they remain in memory after execution is complete. Any subsequent requests for service from a front end will use the version in memory, not launch a new instance. The default for this setting is 3 minutes, but I have packages set for as high as 15 minutes.

Hi Wayne,

PMFLJI or whatever. I'm very interested in the app you developed using IE5/VI presentation layer, VFP Com with MTS transaction pooling and SQL Server database. This is exactly the type of thing I am looking to get into as it seems to be the way of the future (at least in the MS world).

I'm currently learning VB6 from Murach's VB 6 (a great book so far - very database oriented w/ SQL/Access etc.) and then will be moving on to Rick Strahl's book - Internet Applications with VFP 6.0. I eventually want to build business objects (COM) in VFP, use VB/VFP/Browser for presentation layer and use a SQL Server or MSDE database. I guess I should also look into HTML/DHTML/XML if I'm serious about this browser stuff. Are there any other books/courses you can recommend that would further my knowledge on these subjects?

Thanks for your help and it's great to hear about someone who's actually realized the benefits of multi-tiered/multi-language development in a real-world capacity!

Cheers,

-JT
