Some do - for example, the MAILMERGE class in the FFC does some Word automation, and you've got the source code for that with VFP6. There have been a number of good automation articles in FoxPro-related magazines; a series of articles in FoxTalk about a year back from John Petersen come to mind - you can access the back issue database from Pinnacle at http://www.pinpub.com/foxtalk - you can download articles with source if available for $5/article fromm the site. Similar articles have been in previous issues of FoxPro Advisor magazine and have been offered at DevCon sessions. And there are Excel and Word automation classes available for download from the Files Section here on UT.

TANSTAAFL. The Office Development package is not free, and doesn't come bundled with VFP. It is availalble as a commercial package from Microsoft if the code that's appeared in places like UT doesn't meet your needs and/or you need full documentation for the automation models. You may also want to check the FAQ entry on how to get an MSDN Library subscription if you have any of several products tht qualify you to get the 1 year MSDN Library subscription - the MSDN library includes the docs for the VBA automation objects for the Office 2000 package, as well as a wealth of additional information, which is updated quarterly.
