Further to this note:
When I execute from the VFP development environment, I can reindex (at least some of the tables). When I execute the .exe file from the win98 desktop, I can click on the reindex menu option and nothing happens -- no error message, no nothing...as if I didn't even select the option.

It's something basic, but I can't light up the bulb yet.
