Yup. Well, to keep the drum corps analogy going, in a competition you have the line judges down on the field watching every
precise move, checking if all 200 heels are lined up properly when the marching stops (really), and other accounting-oriented things. But up in the stands you have the artistic expression judges scoring on the overall effect on the audience (user interface experience) and on creativity (the latest cool workaround or application of new technology).
So, don't get creative with the line judges, and be sure to throw in a few appropriate WOW moments for the artistic judges. Of course, the most coveted WOWs come from the "insiders" -- the members of competing corps (other developers).
