Citing MS's own marketing research people, the xBase market, which VFP is a member of , is decreasing....

If it were a growing market, don't you think MS would invest more dollars behind the product?

As for devcons, in 1993, there were something on the order to 2500-2700 attendees at the Fox Devcon. I think 1600 is the best attendence figure in the last couple of years.

Another stat... publishing companies do a lot of marketing research with regard to market share for tools. The fox/xbase market is shrinking, in relation to the other tools. That is why you don't see the quantity of VFP books on the market in relation to other tools such as VB, Java, C, etc.... Publisher with existing books, like Prima, Que, etc, will stick around since. New publisher on the other hand, are not likely to join in...

>>The VFP market share IS NOT increasing. At best, it is holding constant. Yes, there are new people that use the product. However, the rate of new people is at or below the rate that people leave.

>I think it's John Petersen who contantly reminds us of backing up statements with facts. Whay makes you think that the market share is not increasing? About what market are you talking here?

>For Europe I can say that the number of DevCons for FoxPro increases, that the number of beginner classes for VFP increases, that the number of people I haven't noticed before on online communities increases. I don't have the statistics to verify whether these people come from a FP or a different background, nor can I provide any statistics about the actual market share, but can you?
