Carl, there is a exe that is installed with windows called odbcconf.exe in the windows\system directory. This is the program that microsoft uses to install new odbc connections when you install programs like SQL enterprise manager or whatever. Point is, is that you can use this program to add odbc connections and it is on everyone's machine already.

If you search the msdn kbs articles, I believe you should find what parameters the program used.
