Hi John,

>VFP is considered to be in the xBase market. Source - the Gartner Group.

Microsoft will stop developing VFP after version 3.0. Source - the Gartner Group.

>I don't necessarily agree that VFP should be catagorized with xBase tools. However, it is not a matter of how I feel, it is a matter of what *is*...

You missed the point, John. No-one here is talking about the xBase market, we are talking about the VFP market. Whether VFP is part of it, or not, just doesn't matter in this context. If you have stats for the xBase market, fine, and I think the xBase market shrinking, too. But for VFP I see different signs.

>Christof, I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

Merely commenting on your message. :)

>MS however, will not invest money to the degree that would constitute an attempt to grow the market.

Yep.

>Sometimes however, the truth and reality is very hard to take....

I'm not labelling you has being negative. I just want you to back up your statements with facts. Claiming to know the truth or reality is one thing, providing facts another. You can provide facts for a decresing xBase market, no doubt. But this thread is named "VFP Market Share" and about nothing else we are talking.

>I don't see the number of Devcon's as an indicator of market health.

Me neither, but you used them to prove your point that VFP is a decreasing market. Or why did you menion them in your message?

>I am so sorry I missed the German Devcon this year. I had my shot to speak, but had another committment. I am looking forward to next year.

Yes, it was great! I'm looking forward to seeing you there next year. Actually, it might have been good that you weren't there. *bg* No, nothing personally, but German developers are only now starting slowly into ADO, and I bet they can make much more use of your sessions about ADO next year.

>From what I have heard, it is the BEST run show on the planet.

And the food!!

>Christof, you are talking about a 1 year trend. I am talking about a 6 year trend.

Then we are talking about different things...

Christof
