Since months don't have fixed length, the QUAD method I use is:

FUNC NumMonths
LPARAMETER tdDate1, tdDate2
RETURN ABS((YEAR(tdDate1)*12+MONTH(tdDate1)) - (YEAR(tdDate2)*12 + MONTH(tdDate2)))
