>>>>>>It seems to me that Holiday Thanksgiving is giving more attention than Christmas. What is Holiday Thanksgiving? This is just out of curiosity. :-)

>>>>>When people (called Pligrims) first started coming to the US from Europe in the 1600s, they had a feast to celebrate the harvest of their crops. This day of giving thanks still continues today. It is celebrated the fourth Thursday of November. People generally get together with friends and family. The traditional meal is turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams, and pumpkin pie. It isn't bigger than Christmas, but kicks off the Christmas season.

>>>>So not one week of celebration. It's a non-working holiday?
>>>
>>>Yes, that Thursday in November is a National Holiday. Although, some businesses will remain open.

>>Is it a good choice for tourist going their on that day at least. The management is thinking a U.S. trip for Software Supervisors next year. Or would it a smart idea if we'll go there come 2000 VFP devcon which is September? I am talking of the second Devcon.

>While Thanksgiving was originally intended to be a day of thanksgiving to God for the bounty it has, sadly, become another excuse for commercialism. The day after Thanksgiving (Friday) is THE BUSIEST shopping day of the year. Traveling, particularly the day before and the next few days after in the US are typically horrible. Some of the busiest travel days of the year so planning on travel should be done carefully. It's just very very busy.
