Ed,
Out of sheer desparation, I moved the printer assignment and Foxpro tables back to the Win NT 3.51 server (which is now a Backup Domain Controllor) -- did not touch any of the workstations (before and after - I was switching the server names) and now its all working normally as before the upgrade. Logically, it has to have something to do with NT 4. One thing that might be a clue to this problem: in the past I allowed users to redirect to their local printers as well. However, at one point within the life of Win95, this type of error would appear so I stopped it.
Also, using your approach, whenever you need to switch more than 3 printers you would first do a RUN net use lpt1: /DELETE and than a RUN reassignment? Doesn't additional DOS windows appear that do not disappear without the user closing them?
Thanks again.
Zev
