According to MS, VB owns 80% of the RAD tools market. Who are the players? Five off the top of my head are:

VFP
C++
J++
Delphi
PowerBuilder

In reality, there isn't a VFP market, nor is their a VB market. Rather, they are just players in the same sandbox. So, a statement such as "The VFP market is decreasing" may not be entirely accurate. It may be more accurate to say that "VFP's share of the RAD Tools market is decreasing..." After all, for every one person that may look at VFP for the first time, there are 10-20 or so folks looking at VB for the first time. That said, while I could concede that more new people are looking at VFP, as a player in the overall market place, it's role is still diminished because that many more people using other tools.
And, while I will concede that geographically, one area may have an upswing, in the aggregate at best, the demand is flat.

I do agree that VFP is a niche market, and talent is in high demand. Not because the market is healthy, but because the talent pool is very sparse. Economics 101 here, the law of supply and demand. To that end, I suppose it is fair to say the VFP market is doing fairly well. I think it is important to place the proper reasoning on why the VFP market is doing well....

>>I never had any illision that it would. VB has a far bigger marketplace than VFP. Let's face it VFP is in a kind of nich market. But IMO, in this nich market it's doing faily well.
