This is a pretty clear misstatement - while VFP may be a better data-centric application development tool, there's little, if anything, that can be done with a VFP application that can't be done using VB instead, while there are entire classes of problems that can be addressed by VB that VFP can't do. The trivial example is create an ActiveX control - an easy task in VB, and one that VFP can't do, no matter how hard you try.

It's not a matter of VFP is an inferior tool than VB, it's more a matter of VFP not trying to be all things to all people. If you had to go on the basis of "Only use one tool that can address the widest range of things" then C++ is the clear winner - if I need a capability found in VFP, in theory, I could write VFP using C++.

I am not advocating learning VB instead of VFP if your primary marketplace is the development of data-centric applications, but am saying that VFP can't, and should not be expected to, do everything.
