I'd strongly recommend a commercial product, Stonefield Database Toolkit; it does this an a whole lot more by woprking with metadata stored in tables outside the .DBC - oin addition to this type of fixing, it provides reliable replacements for things like PACK and REINDEX, and makes updating DBCs and tables in the field a snap. www.stonefield.com
