I agree. Let the ISP do it for you. Many will do the paperwork for free.

One note though, ensure that you personally (your name and email address) are put as one of the admin or tech contacts for the domain name. This way if you switch ISPs you won't be held hostage by your old one. This happened to me with www.evandelay.com
