Hi Mal,

Perhaps it is a misunderstanding of terminology. If he was really looking for a manual, he must be looking for 'shrink wrapped' program. If he wants a custom program, then even though he called it a manual, what he was probably looking for is a functional specification document.

Even with prototyping so much in vogue, I see nothing wrong with preparing a functional spec to make sure you and the client are on the same sheet of music. Especially true for the client you described <g>. BTW, I charge clients for preparing such a document.
