VFP has no native recognition of the OnComm event. if you want VFP to respond to (sink) the event occurance, you need something to catch the event and route it to VFP code - this is precisely what VFPCOM does. VFPCOM provides a way to make the event fire VFP code in an equivalently-named method of a VFP custom classs.

The event occurs, but VFP doesn't do anything with it, because VFP doesn't know its supposed to.
