That's the FSB, or front-side bus, speed - the rate that the CPU clocks the external memory bus at.

>Intel 810e chipset

Intel has just started shipping this recently, so I don't know it in detail. It's their Celeron chipset.

If you need more, this is also called PC-66 memory - be careful when buying more, since it may have timing problems with PC-100 (memory designed for use on a 100MHz FSB) memory, and won't use the new RDRAM required for newer PIII boards that support FSBs of 133MHz.

OK - make sure there's a slot for a NIC (you want PCI) and a second IDE channel so that if you add a CD-ROM later, it will operte independently of the hard drive. SOme CD-ROMs have trouble operating with Ultra-66 hard drives, and it'll force the hard drive to use a slower burst transfer speed.

Also, make sure that there's a second USB port, or that the mouse works with USB hubs.

Why am I not surprised.

All the more reason to check the USB connector situation - you'll need to attach printer, modem, possibly sound, and possibly scanner devices to the USB port. As long as you can use a USB hub, this is no problem.

I prefer the HP boxes, but Compaq is pretty widely accepted. They skimp on space inside, and tend to use a lot of Compaq-only parts, something to keep in mind after the first year.
