After reading Help on-line and rereading the Language Reference Manual it appears that each element of the array goes into a separate field of the record when you do REPLACE FROM ARRAY myarray FIELDS myfield, so I need to make 36 separate fields instead of 1 36-char field. That's why I was only getting the first "Y" into the field.

So if I set up Field1, Field2, ... and so on. The command would then work as stated. I suppose I could squeeze the array into one field another way and then fit into a 36-character field, but there's no real advantage to doing that unless you're out of fields and need to squeeze them into one field name.

Thanks for reminding me to look in Help on-line. I have so many books and manauls that I forget to look there like I always did in the past. Sometimes it is more helpful to look there than in the manuals.

There might even be a command to squeeze an array into one field, but I won't worry about it as long as I can get the other to work.
