Ok, may try that approach. I did get the NavigateComplete2 to fire so that looks promising.

That what I figured I would have to do. Can't believe theres not a cleaner way to handle load errors.

Great, thanks for the info. I have the IE object model, does it give any detail on the web browser ActiveX component?
I was also considering using Rick's wwipstuff library and simply post the data then read the returned document into a string and check for errors. Do you think this approach would work better and does his functions work with a secured site? This app will be heavily used and I'm really looking for stability here.
