>I might have run into something similar between a HP Deskjet 340 and a Xerox Docuprint P8. If the printable area on a page is not big enough, it might fill the field that is cut off with astericks. That would explain why it works on one printer but not the other. Try making the field smaller, or make room by making another field on the page smaller...

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the reply, your absolutely right, as it turns the size of the field does seem to be the problem, even when the format (mask) is plenty big enough for the data and this only happens when I'm pointing to the winfax printer not the HP. My fix was to make the field border area bigger, even overlapping the previous column a bit. Since I'm blank filling the field it doesn't clobber the previous column and works just fine. In the designer the detail band appears a little messed up but it works just fine..... a wierd one !
Thanks,
Don
