This displayvalue is the first column of the selected item in a combo or list box? This btw, is from the help file.

Yes, I know what a master file is?

Tell you what, instead of evading my argument here, why don't you post some code up here that manages this while thing????

In other words, put your money where your mouth is.....

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

So your logic is:

"A combo box draws its values from a table. There are times however, when you want to display a value in the combo box that is not part of the underlying table"

Is this the thesis you are trying to support? If not please clarify????

>Displayvalue is associated with a field in master file. Do you know what master file means?

>>This makes absolutely zero sense??? Talk about obfuscated logic. What is the purpose of using the combo box then? What is the purpose of having a displayvalue with no associated value.
>>
>>Get somebody up here to support your point of view and a logical reason as to why you would do this, and I will entertain a discussion on this.

>>>Probably, the purpose of all these thread is entertainment for people around.
>>>When you add something to rowsource, it means that you add something to lookup table. When you add something to master file it means that you may still want to show this value in the text portion of the combo even if it's not in lookup (rowsource). Got it now?
>>>Once upon a time, Walter gave you a good advice. I can give you another one: do not try to catch me on down-to-earth tech issues: it's simply not your area.
