Well, now, hold on there. I have no testament as to how fun that will be. I know very little about Millenium, but if it can be held to Win2K like Win98 can be held to NT4, I'm not jealous of you. Is this for your machine?

>>I just got finished installing and configuring Win 2K RC2 on my new laptop (Dell Latitude PIII 500, 256 MB RAM).
>>
>>I have never been so impressed with any operating system. The laptop came with Win98 installed on it- I booted from the Win2K CD and the setup process brought me to a screen that showed the existing partitions and asked what I wanted to do. Deleted the Fat32 partition, created a new 2G sys partition for Win2K, one other partition using the rest of the drive space. Instructed to install on the 2G partition, and away we went. In roughly 30 minutes, the machine was up and running, all hardware working, all drivers installed and configured.
>>
>>I plugged in each of my PCMCIA cards (100MB Ethernet/ 56K modem, Slim SCSI controller) and without doing a thing, they were both sensed, identified, and configured (about 6 seconds).
>>
>>I named my computer and workgroup, and was copying files from my server machine over Ethernet in a matter of minutes.
>>
>>It was absolutely the most painless OS install I have ever experienced. I had slated a whole day for getting this laptop set up, and I am already finished (VS 6.0 enterprise SP3, MSDN, Office 2K, and a bunch of other stuff). The whole process took only about 3 hours.
>>
>>I have been using Win2K Pro Beta3 on another machine for a few months now, and it has been more stable than previous NT4 SP4 configs ever were. I am getting ready to upgrade my server box to Win2K server, and I hope the install is just as easy.
>>
>>For anybody that has not yet gotten to install Win 2K, I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy. Its... beautiful. (sniff, sniff).
