I timed the two methods to see if there was any significant difference between the two methods, and indeed there seems to be. Using the AddItem method is at least 1/3 faster than AddListItem.

I put the Add*Item code in a loop that executed 1000 times, and the AddItem method took 0.627 seconds, while AddListItem took 0.985 seconds.
