>I have an old FP Dos application which is experiencing damaged database files. What appears to be happening is that a couple of random bytes get inserted into the data offsetting the remainder of the record across all fields. The next record starts in the correct offset as defined in the header. I have a DBF error detection/correction program but it does not find these errors because the header and record offsets are all correct. I don't find out about the errors until a user discovers the incorrect fields.

This is probably caused by a network buffering error. FoxFix from Hallogram (
www.hallogram.com) should fix it for you.
