It has to do with what I have seen here [I have also seen this [limited] in video clips from other protest sites]. Our building has seen our share of protesting from the local and national chapters of several env groups. Even though we are only 1 of many tenants in this privately owned bldg, some of the groups have been fairly destructive. One group actually threw green dye in the building's fountains that ruined all the waterproof coatings and seals. Others have painted
dead body outlines on the surrounding pavement and sidewalks.
We can also tell when they are trying to improve membership [i.e., they need more dues paying members] or influence a bill in Congress. They usually [press] release some
env crisis report with their name on it. This has happened every time a major env bill has been up for renewal in Congress since I have worked here [14 years]. The timing is amazing.
My rose colored glasses have no color anymore. In fact, I no longer have glasses since I had surgery on my eyes about 7 years ago. :)
