>O.A.S.E. (on another subject entirely) Have you found any major advantage of the DVD version of the library? Like, maybe the snuck in the flight simulator along with the library files? ---- L
The biggest arguments in favor - the DVD is a single disk that you can mount and run from without loading everything to a drive - there are 3CDs in the distribution.
The DVD seems to be faster to access than CD data on the local drive.
There are fewer to keep track of - a big issue for me when the MSDN Universal subscription becomes available on DVD in January.
Arguments against - you need a DVD drive to use it; I can toss the CDs in my satchel and use it from my cheapo laptop on the road.
CDs seem to access faster across the LAN than the DVDs when going from a Win98 box to an NT box, but this is subjective.
