We should use VB to develop the frond end and use the VFP data engine. Can anyone tell me is there any good study has been done in comparing these two products? Thanks.

VB also has its own set of runtime DLL files. What kind of project do you have? Database intensive? Where is it intended to run? LAN, WAN, Web? What is the expertise of your developer group? Is your app architecture planned to be multi-tier? Client-Server? Before you get to the language question. There's a lot of variables that you must weigh.
From your post, I assume that you are mostly a VFP shop? If so, a decision to go VB will have to be solidly justified. Not just because VFP "requires its own set of DLL's"?
