I didn't realize you were using a combobox, they'r not as easy to use as one would expect. Check to see if it has a TEXT property. I was so frustrated trying to do something simple (like you describe) that i finally gave up and used a textbox and combobox in the same space. (using .setfocus and Zorder to mimic the behavior of a combo) I know it isn't exactly right, but it's done and working. Conceptually, it may be that the apparent text box is a control in the combobox parent? I know the documentation is lame (to be kind)

Hopefully someone familiar with the combo- will answer this for my own future use..
