There are known problems with HP's distributed 4050 driver - it leaves the FPU in an inconsistent state on return. It may function better if you're using VFP6 with SP3 applied, but I've still had problems with the HP driver at a few sites - the best solution is to not use the 4050 driver, using the HP5Plus driver from an MS distribution works fine.
