It has a yellow background and often when the sound file is played, ??CHR(7) is outputting to the screen and changing sections of the background of my container object. It never changes the form or another other object on a form except for this one container. I need to have this container NOT changed in it's display just because I am playing a wav file. Any ideas as to why ??CHR(7) is disrupting this display?

Maybe overkill but Tego makes an ocx called tegowave that can do a lot with wav files, including play them.
