Look at xBase if you think duplicating FoxPro would be difficult. xBase expropriated all the Clipper programmers when Computer Associates bought then torpedoed Clipper. I see what you are saying... I thought you meant they would buy FoxPro from MS... But, I don't expect to see a new product comeout if VFP goes away... espessially with the proliferation of 'desktop databases' like SLQ 7.0 DeskTop and Sybase SQL Anywhere... Also, you can use VFP with the Jet database, or the VFP ODBC driver if you want to make non-SQL produts.
While I think the loss of VFP would be a bummer, it certainly wouldn't leave a gaping hole. I would probably move to PowerBuilder or learn Java... I don't think I could move to VB unless someone offered me a GREAT deal or they got a full object model.
