I have a feeling that the budget people aren't really going to want to spend the money (do they ever? :) ) so I want to tell them something that will really make them feel that it's absolutely necessary to make this transition.

We were just discussing one thing, the setfocus in valid is illegal past vfp3. The resource file (foxuser) is different for vfp3, and may require a little patching on some machines.

Mostly, though, to add to what Bill said, everything is better in 5 & 6. Bugs are fixed, better performance, a great many more features. Top-level ("stand alone") forms didn't exist in 3, for example, and I think they're the greatest feature addition of all in 5 & 6, personally. The developer interface has improved greatly, too, though, that's not a big deal for managers.

To help your argument, I would note that vfp3 is probably the worst and buggiest version out of 2.6, 3, 5, and 6, and if you go straight to vfp6 SP3, you should see some significant performance gain. (How much will vary, but it's a good argument, anyway, the kind managers like to hear :)
