You're right, Mike. I try to NEVER re-invent any wheels. When someone else has created something I can use, I use it! Sometimes, though, I shortchange myself when I fail to fully understand what's going on under the hood. Now that we have so many tools to use, I'm trying figure out how they all work and sometimes I don't know where to start. How many times do I read something like "This article is fairly light reading..." or "It is a trivial task to..." and then the author launches into an alphabet soup of terms that leave me in the dust!
