It's overwhelming likely that NT will not pick up the IRQ/port for the second NIC automatically; before restarting NT, make sure to note the correct settings and make any necessary adjustments by hand.

My guess is that the card is grabbing a resource needed by some other NT resource - an interrupt, DMA channel or block of memory are likely candidates. If the card is PnP, it's likely that you'll need to configure it before installation and adjuist the settings for the NIC by hand.
