That's a good starting point at least; there are lots of things that can alter the optimal size, such as extensive use of memory-mapped files, large clipboards, or having lots of things that sit and sleep, and while inactive, can safely be swapped out to disk. I tend to run a good deal larger than that, with swap file segments on each physical drive to help balance the I/O load.
