This is not a FP problem, but this is the only place I know with so many knowledable people.

From time to time, my machine slows down terribly.

I run a virus check, and test for disk fragmentation and disk errors. Nothing. Then I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see that several unknown programs are running. Sometimes, if I kill one of them the machine speeds up noticeably. They might be loaded in Win.ini with load and run commands, or some other way.

Is there a site that has reliable information on cycle-stealers of all kinds?
