Hi, David...
I use Crystal Reports for both reporting and charting. As a matter of fact, some of our presentation output features both charts and report bands on the same page.
It's a trade-off, so I really can't give you one answer. Having one tool is great if you need to have both reports and graphs, but Crystal's charting capabilities pale in comparison to those of, say, Graphics Server. With Graphics Server, you can programatically control more aspects of the chart than you can with Crystal...as a result, I've had to come up with a few kludgy work-arounds.
Maybe one of these days Seagate will spend more R & D time with charting end of their tool...overall, I don't regret the decision I made three years ago to go with one tool, though there are times I'm envious of some of the things that can be done with other charting tools.
