Im using the "view designer", How can i have it in one criteria?

Why i need it like that is because:

1) I have a couple "ands" and if i do "AND EMPTY(assignedTo) OR assignedto = ?parassignto" it will give me wrong records, i need to do "AND (EMPTY(assignedTo) OR assignedto = ?parassignto)" How do i do this in the view designer?

2) It should always selects assignedto=parassignto and if it should select also the empty ones is a user driven option.
