Obviously I want to make as small a footprint as possible on the machine that receives my card. Prefer on to copy DLL or create a directory, etc. Just am not thinking right on this subject. Need some help.

Not with vfp if you don't want a runtime to go with your card. Other options? maybe a small C++ program or maybe a shockwave flash.
