Stored procedures are functions stored in a memo file in the DBC. These functions can be called whenever the DBC is the current SET DATABASE TO.

However, given that you want to validate the entry during data entry (correctly so, IMO), then a different approach might be better.

How many employees do you have to deal with? Hundreds? Or thousands?

You really don't want to make the user *guess* at employee numbers til they get it right. They may want to pick based on name, for one thing.

Instead, would it help to give them a grid that *looks* like a combo? There is a searchable grid utility. Check out File #9172 Ingrid 1.50 here in the files section.
