The specific error that Darren is getting is not because of registry problems, though that will bite him in other ways, but because one of the operating system support files (I believe oleaut32.dll) is out of sync with the version of vfp500.dll that he is using.
This error is actually well documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. It's in article Q158064 and if you dont have it, their web address is
http://www.microsoft.com/kbThis article points out how to properly replace this .dll, and also cautions that doing so in Windows NT v3.51 without intervention from a Service Pack is hazardous to the system.
