I'm not totally ruling this out, I just don't think it will happen. Having to rewrite the kernal is equivalent to a whole new product, IMO. Would people be excited to see it? Absolutely. Would they complain and gripe about problems in what essentially is a 1.0 release? Absolutely. Would people abandon VB? Some would, yes. But, VB would probably gain lots of new users too.
