I.e if your program is going to communicate via TCP/IP, then that's the only protocol that needs to be installed. However, if the users are on a Novell network they will need the appropriate protocol to "talk" to the server. Depending on what version of Netware you are running the need either IPX/SPX or TCP/IP. I use SPX to communicate with my Netware servers and use TCP/IP for Windows Network file/printer sharing and internet access. If you have a later version of Netware, it can be configured to use only TCP/IP and thus you could save some network overhead by not using SPX. However, TCP/IP has some security isssues whereas SPX is pretty darn secure (level C3 I believe). Let me know what the configuration of your network is and I may be able to give you my recommendation as to how best to configure it.

Actually, there a great number of different configurations that we have to support. We were trying to figure what our LCD would be. I believe Novell 3.12. Though, some have already intimated that this would not be Y2K ready. Actually, I would like to use DCOM over the network but I've heard that COM would not be supported at this level.
