>well...what does Microsoft say about discontinuing foxpro...does anyone really know...?

Joe,

Scan the other threads here. There are multiple "fox is dead" threads going on now. They come up about once a month or so and have been doing that for 6 or 7 years now.

Microsoft has said that they are behind VFP, but that doesn;t say much because folks will interpret it to mean that Microsoft won't say they are dropping it.

This issue and subject is useless. Microsoft showed an early version of VFP 7.0 at DevCon this year. It is expected sometime late this year or early next year. It will likley have a 1.5 to 2 year currency and then it will remain in use for a number of years after that. So, I am willing to say that VFP will be around for at least 5 more years, adn if MS says anything about version 8.0 during that time add another 5 years to it.

The reason that I say this subject is worthless is because if you are a professional developer you should be familiar with more than one technology. You should be learning the enw technologies as they come out to remain current in your profession. If you are doing that regularly, then if Microsoft ever announced that VFP Version x.0 is the last one and there will be no more, you would have a couple of years before the product disappeared and that would be plenty of time to latch onto one of the new technologies.
