Hi Peter,

The fact that M$ will certainly not drop FoxPro makes all such speculations just speculations. But it would be nice if the FoxPro team would fix about an even hundred old, old, old known problems with the language -- some go back to FoxBase.

Don't expect the current antitrust lawsuit to produce radical results. The only way DOJ is going to get to micro-manage M$ is if Bill Gates negotiates and signs a consent decree. Very unlikely.

Frankly, US anti-trust law is a little out of date It was written for a market in which the US had very little interest in or concern with foreign competition by what are often state-subsidized mega-businesses.

The US now has a virtual monopoly on computer software, thanks in no small part to the predominance of M$ OSs, and I think the Commerce Department would like that dominance to continue.

There will be some changes, and probably a big fine (Bill Gates might even have to settle for a mere 14 car garage to pay for it), but the likelihood of breaking up M$ is small.

regards,
