The Alpha CPU chip is not machine language compatible with the Intel 80x86 series. But apparently is it close enough so that ports of Intel-based software have been made.

It was developed by Digital Equipment Corp. and there was concern when Compaq bought DEC that the Alpha chip would fade away. That doesn't seem to be happening.
