- built in database engine
- the fastest built in database engine
- more OOP than VB
- highly productive UI creation because of inheritance
- inexpensively deploy large and fast file server based applications

Some advantages of VB over VFP
- VB plays better with ActiveX controls since developers test with VB more often
- VB has intellisense
- VB6 can use OLE-DB to connect to SQL Server, VFP6 can't
