Perhaps early on they were different animals, but with all the hype the MSDN website is publishing here lately regarding VBA as a viable tool for developing distribute apps I have to diagree here. See...

Of particular interest to me was the Duamish Books sample app that uses VBA for it's middle tier. Granted my fox pride was momentarily hurt to see a new wave of middle tier salespitches geared elsewhere, but if you read up on these three links I think you might reconsider your statement... it's pretty impressive.
