Granted, my load is pretty light, but I've had no problems running multiple simultaneous remote views over ODBC in VFP. I can't vouch for high-traffic use, but I'm very pleased with my performance.

My client owns a 15 user copy of SQL Server 6.5 which is left over from an application that they canned. Our VFP reservations app is on VFP 5.0 and currently uses a Novell file server. Depending on the time of day there will be between 5 and 40 workstations running the app.

If I switched the VFP front-end to use views into the SQL Server, I would need a seat license for each simultaneous user. Right?

What if I had a VFP middleware box that was the only connection to the SQL Server box. What do you know about licensing in that configuration?

Would love to hear about any and all miscelaneous details of your experience with SQL Server 6.5 and VFP 5.0.
